Data Resources

National Data

Provisional Drug Overdose Death Counts – CDC
This data visualization presents provisional counts for drug overdose deaths based on a current flow of mortality data in the National Vital Statistics System.

State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) – CDC
SUDORS collects data on unintentional and undetermined intent drug overdose deaths from death certificates, medical examiner or coroner reports, and postmortem toxicology results.

Drug Overdose Surveillance and Epidemiology (DOSE) system – CDC
The nonfatal drug overdose data on this dashboard captures electronic health record information in syndromic surveillance systems. This dashboard represents the most up-to-date data that CDC’s DOSE system has available and is updated shortly after new data are made available each month.

Key Health Indicators – CDC
The National Center for Health Statistics provides data on key health indicators. Information on Key health indicators are quantitative measures used to track and assess the health status of individuals or populations.

Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) – CDC
The SVI is a place-based index, database, and mapping application designed to identify and quantify communities experiencing social vulnerability. Social vulnerability refers to the demographic and socioeconomic factors (such as poverty, lack of access to transportation, and crowded housing) that adversely affect communities that encounter hazards and other community-level stressors. These stressors can include natural or human-caused disasters (such as tornadoes or chemical spills) or disease outbreaks (such as COVID-19).

Overdose Detection Mapping Application Platform (ODMAP) – HIDTA
ODMAP provides near real-time suspected overdose data across jurisdictions to support public safety and public health efforts to mobilize an immediate response to a sudden increase, or spike, in overdose events.

State Data

Michigan Overdose Data to Action (MODA) Dashboard – MDHHS
The MODA dashboard displays the most recent Michigan overdose data. Users can explore substance-related data at the state, county, and zip code levels, such as current trends, disparities and social determinants of health, harm reduction, specific drug trends, treatment, and substance use vulnerability index. From here, users can access recent reports and public use datasets.

Michigan System for Opioid Overdose Surveillance (SOS) – University of Michigan
SOS is an opioid overdose surveillance system that provides near real-time mapping of non-fatal and fatal overdose cases as well as aggregate data briefs to facilitate timely public health and public safety responses.

Michigan Substance Use Disorder Data Repository (MI-SUDDR) – MDHHS
The SUDDR was designed to provide useful data related to substance use, consequences of use, and the risk and protective factors that are associated with behavioral health conditions. Data provided on the SUDDR is meant to support grant seeking activities and to enable data-driven programming decisions for behavioral health (substance use and mental health) service providers.

Michigan Syringe Service Program Data – MDHHS
Data and statistics related to the State of Michigan’s Syringe Service Program, including annual Viral Hepatitis reports.
